So we went to the Apple store yesterday and left with a million dollars cash.
Nah, I kid, but it was funny because the cash registers were actually just mac computers that look like every other one that people just walk to and start surfing the net on. Precisely what we did. The guy serving some customers on the computer next to us shot us a weird look, but did nothing to stop us. Only after we proceeded to close the register application (when we couldn't log in successfully and tried to apply for a new password), open another explorer, typed in google and news, loaded news, before someone came to tell us that it was a cash register and to surf the net on the other computers.
I could have stolen the whole register! Some genius bar indeed.

It's been a productive week of hopping from one country to the next. Managed to find my way back home, which is quite a feat considering how I've never traveled alone before. Realised security is a lot more lax too- no stopping for bomb threat checks or possession of illegal objects.
I digress. Let's retreat back a bit to Kobe Jones:

Before I left, I had to make use of the entertainment card, which is fast approaching its expiry date. Wrote in to their website a couple of months ago regarding some new restaurants they should include in their coming edition and suggested Uchi Lounge and Kobe Jones, amongst others. Next email included a deal from Kobe Jones~!

It was INSANELY good. Number One Special: crab salad with avocado wrapped in Hiramasa kingfish and baked with secret sauce. The first bite sent us to heaven. On the outside, it looked like a takoyaki ball, but it was so soft and sweet inside.

Came with free coke too.

Next platter came altogether like this~ with Dynamite tuna handroll: seaweed cone filled with rice, raw tuna, tamago and a touch fo chilli... out of this whole plate, probably the roll was a bit disappointing. Seaweed was a bit soggy by the time it reached us, but they must have needed lots of time to prepare the rest of the plate.

Lollipop sushi: tuna, snapper, salmon, crab salad, asparagus and smelt roe, wrapped in thinly peeled cucumber with soy sauce vinaigrette.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Seafood Poke: Hawaiian style sashimi cubes marinated in poke sauce.

Oyster Shooter in mango infused sake. I can't really take alcohol so I plucked the oyster out and ate it with the mango salsa, but left the sake.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Anago Scallops: tempura Hokkaido scallops stuffed with crab salad and asparagus, drizzled with a bittersweet soy sauce glaze. This was SO good, they really know how to handle seafood.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Seafood tempura: king prawns, tuna and Pacific oysters served with dipping sauce. Oysters!! This actually reminded me of the Iron Chef dinner, because they were serving these tempura oysters as hors d'oeuvres.

Wait there's more!
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Miso citrus lobster tail: grilled green lobster tail served in a miso citrus sauce on a bed of steamed vegetables and wafu thermidor sauce. This was crazy rich and buttery, but definitely finish-able. Nothing in this course is unfinish-able.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Vodka Lemon sorbet as a rester to refresh the palette, because there's more to come.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Wagyu hot rock: self-cook wagyu served with dipping sauces.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
From the right, ponzu sauce, salt and pepper, and I forgot the last one... it was ginger soy sauce or something like that. The waitress used the fat of the meat to smother the stone with oil and then allowed us to cook the meat to our liking. It was melt-in-the-mouth, literally.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Then out came dessert~
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Actually, dessert wasn't really special, but that's ok, because the rest of the meal was fantastic.
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
A flaming creme brulee, matcha flavoured, with a strawberry macaroon that is no where near the standard of Adriano Zumbo's.

Looking a lot like Sheraton's sugar hit from last year with the fairy floss.
The bill? Over $90 taken off the original price, and for this meal? I would actually say it was quite worth it. Surprised at the quality of the food, the freshness, the way all the different seafood was handled... I'll definitely go again if this offer is in the coming Entertainment Book edition. It's a really good restaurant too, nice atmosphere... the staff said the place was packed with over 200 people on Valentine's Day, and it's no wonder.
